Finally got my copy and started reading. Looks to be a fascinating read and I'm sure will give me a new appreciation of the history. Flipping through, I was really surprised to see the F Type actually served as a Rally car.

Now surely any car that can stand up to rally should be more than mechanically and electrically sound !!

I think you should read it again - they were specials to celebrate the XK150's successes in the 1950s! "... they were just a bit of nostalgic fun" (p169)
