F-Type Grand Tour of alpine regions in Europe

Okay, I am back from Portugal.. I will try to post a movie every day until I'm through.. .. about 7 more after this one..

This is a scenic tour, from Gluringen [Furkastrasse ] to La Thuile [ Petit col Ste. Bernard ]. I would normally not post it since there is really
nothing spectacular, except for the landscape. But some elderly friends where very happy with previous 'soft' video's since they are too
old to go back there and its a trip through memory lane for them...

Enjoy [ < 5 minutes ] :P

June 2nd. We had to make a detour to Turin as all the passes in the French alps were blocked. What was supposed to be one of the
best days, ended in the shortest video of all [ < 5 minutes ];

Sorry for any spelling errors in the movie scripts. I make it in moviemaker and the letters are soooo tiny and often
hardly visible in the background. I only see the mistakes when I'm all done, and don't want to do much again for a
wrong letter.. " Menton(s)" :?

3rd of june, part 1.
We drive from Moncenisio to Menton, through the French Alps. We follow a chain of passes.

Looks amazing and very little traffic

The roads look like this during weekdays in may / early june. Our problem was 70% of mountain passes were closed due to avalanche risk ;
the roads were cleared, but on the slopes there was too much remaining snow, bound to come down.

If you want to avoid that risk, go in october, but then all the snow is gone and it can be rainy as well.. You need some luck !

I don't think you can rent an F-Type in France, probably a corvette, and it will be very expensive.

I’ll be taking mine once I get back to UK and will just have to be careful as will be RHD. Will probably risk June.

5th of june, climbing the French foothills of the Pyrenees.. ... VERY wet...

6th of june. We crossed back from Spain, into France.

The foothills are very lush and green, due to plenty of rain. We were lucky and were there on a sunny day.

Part one : no thrills, just driving winding roads with stunning views of the surroundings.

Part of the route :

6th of june 2nd part.

More driving through glorious lush greens..

I checked sections of the route before on streetview, to avoid ending up on gravel.
Still the width is very restricted, no more then 2,5m I think..

Hope you enjoy watching it..

Thanks Dan, I have enjoyed watching your videos, thank you for taking the time to edit and post them!

I will be making sure I get over to see some of these roads myself!

Hi Gus,

Thanks for the comment !

I like to do the editing as I relive it also. Then I am very privileged to make a trip like this, and also with my son as well.
Many people we speak with would have loved to do this but just lack the money, the time or both. Or the son is not
interested in cars... Luckily my son is a petrolhead like me. He configured my car. And in a few years, when I am 65,
he can have it for himself. But he plans to have a Ferrari by then, so an F-Type would be to humble. We'll see by then.

Anyway, we still have to redo a part of the trip. I plan to drive down to Portugal. On the way back my wife takes a plane.
My son comes over and we drive back to Monaco and through the passed we missed the 1st time around.
I can keep you informed, maybe you can tag along, maybe more people would want to as well.

I would love to tag along but not collecting car until March - I think I’m having one of the longest ever waits! The closer it gets, the more unbearable it is!

Wow. Are you sure ICE will be still in production, or do you get a battery version as a first.. :?

Who needs ICE in an F Type?

I think GusA is alluding to in-car entertainment. ;)
Ice wouldn't last long under the bonnet of an F-Type! :D

Ha ha

I’ve never heard of ICE standing for internal combustion engine before! Every day’s a school day!

Wel, the abrevation is cool, so it suits the F-Type.. .. I only know it since a year,
its to differentiate from Electric Vehicle and Plugin Hybrid Vehicle..
That were 3 schooldays..

Anyone like GusA, who wants to see the retake as promised, will get a notification once I posted this.
