Exhaust not popping or crackling after dealer visit

Yesterday I had a new antenna and module battery fitted to fix the 'SOS limited function' warning message showing. This was done and the message has gone, however, so has the the famous F Type exhaust noise. The exhaust note is defiantly muted and it's almost impossible to get any cracks or pops. I was told that the error codes have been wiped. Will this have included a software update I wonder?
A large part of the cars sole has been removed and so has one of the reasons I chose this car.
I have read rumours that JLR are updating the software on cars under warranty to extend the life of the injectors and other components that can be effected by the false exhaust noises. Also some customers do not like the exhaust noise. Should I have been given the choice? can I ask for it to be changed back? Is a patch available to fix this?
Yes I know this subject has been discussed in other areas and the rumour mill is working overtime I would just like to find out if other members have has the same issue and have found a fix.

Hi Spooks,
that is completely new for me for the MY2020. You and i have a new model with OPF Particular Filter and the quiet noise. Have you disconnect the tubes on the valves? Maybe the dealer has it connected?

I have only see the difference with my Ftype and the older youtube videos. But didn´t hear a FType original from an older year. In a German forum there was a member who said, that the dealer doesn´t recognize the update, when they connect to the Car and has internet connection to the JLR Cloud. But i don´t know if it is real.

If the they have flashed the software then check "dynamic mode" is still set to sport.

See my car topic post about half way down - https://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=2034&start=20

For some reason it does not set dynamic to factory default after an update.

What tubes on what valves, the exhaust valves on the back box? It was OK before the software flash. I am sure the vac pipes were always on.

The dynamic mode is perhaps not as dynamic as it was. It is the new one with no driver settings, it could have gone to comfort mode, no way to reset from the display.

Do you have configurable dynamics? Select dynamic mode and then find the Dynamic-I icon and hit that. You should then have screen that enables you to set Normal or Dynamic for the 4 options.

Configurable dynamics was an option which I guess you don't have then.

I get the best sound and crackles with the tubes off from the exhaust valves, because they are closing when drive slow. See my post there

I have just been out in it again and it's far more than the exhaust note. Flicking between normal and dynamic makes little or no difference, apart from the dash going red. The whole car feels like its in snow mode.
The SOS limited function warning is back on again. Two days in the main dealer and for nothing, except totally destroying the cars performance.
Booked in again for Monday, after offering sometime in mid September.
If this is Jaguar ownership it will be moved on very quickly. Anyone got any idea what they have don?

I have sorted it myself, the supercharger bypass actuator valve was stuck open. Why this would happen on a car with 3,500 mile on is a mystery,
Perhaps it was subjected to a long period of idling in the workshop and the with different metals having different expansion rates, could this make it stick, especially if it was not run during the cooling down period.
A quick tap with a screwdriver handle in the right place and the engine sound changed instantly. And more importantly it's back to it's normal pops, crackles and stunning performance. The SOS message still appears at times, however I will just ignore it.
Anyone else had this problem?

Not a lot of thanks to Marshalls Lincoln, who went out of their way to be uninterested.

More info might be helpful to others but glad you found the root cause.
I nearly always get SOS unavailable at work car park because there is absolutely no signal. But it clears as soon as I exit the car park.

I would love to post a picture of the 'right place' however I don't know the masonic code to upload one, sorry.

Tap gently in the area of the bullet, (sorry I could not find anything else) with the engine hot, you will notice a change in the engine sound, when it has freed off. Rev the engine if it won't move.
I suspect this is caused by running the engine at idle for a long period whilst working on the vehicle. (in my case the dealer ran it more than 1 hour, according to my dashcam) The alloy supercharger will get very hot and expand more than the butterfly valve, thus letting the valve open further than it would normally, remember the valve will be air cooled and made of a metal that will not expand easily. When the engine is turned off, the alloy housing will cool and trap the butterfly valve.
To stop this you need to drive the car so that the temperatures will return to normal and the valve closes in it's usual place, before turning off the engine. The dealer turned mine off and left it overnight.
The engine will run like a normally aspirated engine when the vale is stuck and instantly returns to normal when freed.
What would a dealer charge and what fabricated faults would they invent? to put this right. New supercharger!

Please note this is only my thoughts. It is up to you, if the housing brakes or something else goes wrong I will not be held liable. I am no expert, just a ordinary Joe sharing my experience.
