Exhaust crackle

Hi - I'm on my second F Type now (with a brief switch to an F Pace in between). My first was a 63 plate S - I bought this at 10,000 miles and this had really loud exhaust crackle. I now have a 2000 mile S AWD - this doesn't seem to have any exhaust crackle, no matter what setting I have the exhaust in. Is this normal for newer cars?

Hi Dan,

Try changing down gears with the paddles. It works for me :-)

Ps. Why were you only an F-Pace owner briefly ?

Sport+Dynamic mode then stamp on the gas and lift off, should do it. You can gas it a bit and feather the throttle, with a bit of practise, to avoid speeding up and slowing down (when going through a tunnel in traffic etc).

Some of us reckon that the higher octain fuel accentuates the rice krispies. That's my excuse for using Shell 98 anyway. Tel mentioned on here, Tesco momentum at 100 octane works very well.

Happy Christmas everyone (santa brought me a ctek, which is just what I wanted - now where's that Toblerone gone mmmm).
Merry Xmas crackle!... Sorry!

Mine is a new F-type and no problem getting the exhaust to pop and crackle on demand. Sport and dynamic. Rev to about 3500 to 4000 rpm then lift off.

Thanks very much - I'll give all this a try. Had my F Pace for about three months but just missed my F Type - my garage did a good deal on a straight swop back to a nearly new F Type so I went for it. I'd have bought my old one back if they still had it but it had gone so I've upgraded to the AWD with the new tech and a couple of extras that I didn't have on the old one. Miss the salsa red though - this new one is ultimate black so a bit more discreet!
