Engine Flush / Oil Conditioning? (2nd Service)

Hi all,

I've booked in for the 2nd Service (2016 S) and was offered "Engine Flush and Oil Conditioning" for £30. Does anyone have been offered this and know what this involved?

Having checked in a number of other forum, this appears un-necessarily but does no harm to model engines.

Any view would be much appreciated.

Snake oil!
 
When I took mine in I was asked about whether I wanted the oil flush.

I asked is it recommended? They said yes.

I said great, I have a service plan so if it is recommended then it must be included as part of the service plan. They then said oh, and "checked again" and said its not part of the service plan and not required, purely optional.

So I asked, for an engine that has done 100k over 10 years what would the differnece be between an engine serviced every year with and without a flush? I dont know was the answer.

So I said no thanks.
 
IMHO a complete waste of time and money if the car is maintained correctly
The only time I'd ever consider using flushing oil is if I had an older engine with filthy oil in it and wanted to clean the last dregs out before refilling and putting new filter in
 
My father put flushing oil into his 2.4 Jag back in the 60’s and it had to have new engine bearings. I’m sure things are different now but personally I wouldn’t touch it with a long pole!
 
depends on your mileage each year if low, oil just sitting in the sump and oil ways which might thicken up and partially block so flush will give those narrow pipes a clean.

I think the general consensus is a "waste of money" especially the car has only done 13,000 miles and 2 years old. Has anyone had the same offer when booking in for service or any other time by the main dealer?
