Hi Tel,<div><br></div><div>What an epic tale you told on jaguarforum, </div><div><br></div><div>I had a similar experience, however it was always the looks that grabbed me, I too started with the idea of an Aston, but same as you, the looks where stunning but the drive was not the best experience, and for that amount of money it had to be perfect. Then to Porsche, a C4S, as you said a fantastic drive, but seemed to lack something, not sure what, perhaps it just did everything too well ?? and it did not sound that good, more like a VW bettle zooped up (perhaps that is a little unfair), then off to Lotus for the Evora S Streetracer, much cheaper, great car for driving, exceptional handling, acceleration, looked great as well, but still had a kit car feel about it.</div><div><br></div><div> I had an XFR at the time so was well aware of what Jaguar was planning, then in May last year I got a call from my local dealer George (Marshalls of Ipswich Branch), saying they had an number of F Types just in for Demonstration and would I like a go <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" alt="Big smile" title="Big smile" /> so on a nice quiet weekday off I trotted. I drove all three models, spending almost all day with the dealer. Perhaps I am not as brave as you Tel, as the V8S, although in my budget, was just too wild, I felt that I was always waiting for it to bit me<img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley18.gif" border="0" alt="Ouch" title="Ouch" /> it was savage, and to have fun you would be travelling at such a speed, I suppose I was feeling intimidated<img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley22.gif" border="0" alt="Stern Smile" title="Stern Smile" />, the V6S offered me the best experience, the power felt manageable while still remaining exciting, so placed an order in the June, took delivery in September, and the rest is history, as they say.</div><div><br></div><div>Best of luck finding your perfect car, you will not be disappointed,</div><div><br></div><div>Jamie</div><div><br></div>

This is my first foray into a proper sportscar...I have a very old Triumph Spitfire 1500 in my garage that I built and restored to concours about 20 years ago. That was the bees knees, however today, you just feel so small and underpowered. No servo brakes here, the harder you push the more you maybe, probably or might slow down in a diagonal line across both carriagways! It goes pretty well, but you have to work it hard.<div>Fast forward to the present day...I spent around an hour and a half in the V6S and equal time <span style="line-height: 1.4;">in the V8S with my other half doing real world driving. Towns, B- roads, dual carriageways and traffic jams!</span></div><div>I found that after the test drives, the V6S had consumed more juice than the V8S, I guess it works harder? </div><div>The V6S was great, but I knew that I would be looking for a bit more grunt. Now, I get the fact that none of us really use our cars to the full potential, but I enjoy 'spirited' driving. The V8S was brill, and you quite rightly say, deserves a lot of respect...it has more than enough grunt and put such a big smile on my face. I think I was still grinning fem ear to ear the next day...not many cars have that effect on me, and I've tracked a few different beasts.</div><div>It's also nice to have the extra power in reserve for towing the caravan <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" alt="Big smile" title="Big smile" /></div><div><br></div><div>P.S I'm hoping to sew up a deal this week!! Yippeee!</div>

Hi Tel,<div>Just as a note I have averaged 18mpg from new, mostly spirited driving <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" alt="Big smile" title="Big smile" />, the best I have had was a run down to Brooklands last Autumn, when I placed her on Cruse control at 70mph down the motorway, this returned 38mpg. Perhaps I need to us the start-stop function more ? <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley5.gif" border="0" alt="Confused" title="Confused" /></div><div><br></div><div>Anyway keep us informed of your progress,</div><div><br></div><div>Cheers</div><div>Jamie</div>
