DLR problem with light or something else

I went to look at a 2019 F-type yesterday and while there forgot to look at the lights. I had a look on the pics and video and the passenger side light seemed to be dimmer . I called the dealer who said it was some wiring that had slipped in front of the LED's as in the photos. Id not heard of this happening and only heard of the DLR failing. Has anyone had this happen to them. I'm happy to purchase if this is sorted.

Yes, had exactly that, It's from the protective cover on the wiring, dealer removed it for me under warranty.

Another user had same

It definitely has the DRL problem, I'm absolutely gutted as had fallen in love with this car. He had removed the sheafing as well.

I have seen three other F-Types this week, rare to see so many, and two of them as they followed me had a dim near side DRL.

Yeah, seems like they all fail sooner or later. There's a solution coming soon though and if you get a brand new light it won't fail. Check out Tim's latest video on this topic.

Unfortunately the 22 pages of information about this issue and every post Tim ever made appear to have gone.

So it might not be apparent to the Op who Tim is.

I joined the DRL facebook group to do some research and saw the video. Its put me off getting a pre 2020 model as most I see have the problem. Until the remedy is confirmed I will either wait or get a post 2020. I do prefer the version before that though to be honest in looks wise.

While I don't deny the problem is quite common, it's likely that people have joined that Facebook group specifically because they have the issue, so it's no surprise that "most have the problem". For the record, I haven't yet (hope that hasn't jinxed me!).

Sorry, I meant most of the ones for sale I see that have the lights on in their photographs seem to have the problem. Granted its an handfull.

Yeah, I wondered if that was what you meant after I'd posted, but ....

The aggrevating factor here is that it's always the nearside.

So ...not just a dicky batch of lights....more indicative of a design flaw ...which to me will hit a large propertion of cars ...eventually.

Obviously I have no stats for that..but it's my hunch.

Just some more anectodal evidence from me. During the 2 months that I was debating with my dealer who was going to be paying for my replacement headlamp I noticed that they had an example on their forecourt with the same issue flagged up on its most recent MOT and added this to my list of arguments that mine was not a one-off.

How. exactly do you get those buggers out? I have one of those in my right headlamp and nobody seems to know how to do it over in the states. As with most things...

Have a read through this...'Object inside the headlamp' (the link was also posted earlier)
