DIY Garege door opener / Home Link

I have a Gliderol garage door, but sadly my car does not have the home link interior mirror with the buttons on. Other than replacing the mirror at c£500 I was just wondering whether anyone had come up with a DIY mod where the fob could be wired up to a spare button slot in the car. I have seen fobs that now fit into the cigar lighter socket but not sure this would operate my door as they are designed for Hormann doors.

Hi,

The ones that plugs into the lighter will work fine on the hormman doors.
As we have just fitted a hormmans interface to a clients gates to get them to work with his garage doors.

I have a cheap cigar lighter holder which works at 833Mhz on my Hormann gate. As far as I can see it is just a way of holding it in place. you could just as easily keep a Gliderol fob in the central armrest or just attach it to the sun visor.?

My OCD does not like things rattling around in my car. The Hormann openers do not work with Gliderol - I have tested!
I'll think of something.

Hi,

I have automated gates which have various opening options so a garage door opener would not suffice for my needs. Like yourself I did not want an ugly transponder in my car or start retro fitting switched. On ebay I found a small chrome gate cloning fob. I matched this with my gate channels (Easy) and added a small piece of self adhesive Velcro. The Fob fits nicely on the centre consul and is always at hand and not rolling around the cabin. I admit its not brilliant but it does a tidy job.
