Disinfecting car

My wife wants me give her car a thorough disinfecting.
Question, will the alcohol hand gels damage a leather steering wheel?

Alcohol pulls all oils out of whatever it contacts.

The interior most probably wouldn't suffer if you did I'd it once, but why bother... 3 days, virus dead.

👍 It's car she uses for shopping and is concerned re contacts with shopping trolleys etc., even though she wears gloves.

Once you've in fin shed your shopping, alcohol gel the gloves then remove them. Gel your hands thereafter. Cross contamination is reduced.... That said the virus is most probably present on the plastic containers from the supermarket!

That is the process we both follow, but she just asked for additional cleaning.
Even shopping bags left in the basement/garage store.
As you say plastics and tins from supermarkets???
How far do you go?

Realistically Rob, disinfecting the gloves and washing therafter is as far as we go.

If you really wanted nill exposure you wouldn't realistically be able to shop!

If you really want to go to town on the car try the anti bacterial and anti-microbial range of products from gTechniq, when I spoke to Rob he said they had been selling loads of their Tri clean I2 AB range in China because of Coronavirus. They also do a leather cleaner with the same technology.

For complete decontamination you could use the AVD Pro aerosol - De-con1 but it’s expensive at £12 a single use can! www.de-con1.co.uk

P.s. do not leave hand sanitizer in the car, the active ingredient is alcohol and it evaporates with the heat that builds up inside the car. It can also damage the interior trim if it leaks.
