Dashboard scuffs

I keep catching my foot on the dash (the black leather/leather look material) as I exit the car. I have scuffed the surface only (the colourant). Is it real leather? Anyone used a good product to recolour a dash scuff? Clearly I need to stop exiting like a flailing lunatic, but it would be good to fix up the dash too. Thanks.

This is not my motor, but a stock one on line. However, it has scuffs in exactly the same place as mine (although these are far worse). I have tried to clean them with an internal detailer but it’s the colour that’s come off it seems. B66EC7CF-DFC3-4D86-8C78-0F97E9BC30C5.jpeg

It's not real leather, more softish plastic.

To remove any colouring from shoes, Isoprop alcohol and a bit of soft tissue, then try something like back to black just to oil up the surface again.

Try it on an indiscreet area first to check that there's no weird reactions.

Meguirs Ultimate Black Plastic Restorer gets good reviews and is available at Halfords.

Some say it takes 2 or 3 coats.

How big are your feet? I thought mine were big, but I've never been near that area with them. I usually scuff the door panel.

Thanks for the advice re ‘back to black’ and Meguires. It’s a job for this weekend.

Good point on the feet side of life. Mine are only size 9 (44 in EU sizing I think). It’s not the size of feet that matter here, it’s the way I use them. I tend to exit the car with such gusto that my left foot flicks upwards with a kind of flourish that wouldn’t be out of place in Riverdance. No idea why, but I’ve had a word with myself.

I do the same thing, i am over 6 feet tall, and I usually scuff the speaker in the door with my left foot and, nick the edge of the dash with my right getting out. But this car is new to me so ill adapt and learn. 😉 not the easiest car to step out of, however, its worth it.

Enjoy the Riverdance exits while you can, when you get to my age you end up falling out ungraciously 😂
