Hello all, soon to own the 2020 coupe (p380) in Silicon Silver below and need to know the length from rear wheel center line to rear of car, so I can tell if I need to move my fixed kerb to reverse up to. Thanks. 01.jpgScreenshot_20240401-001013_Dolphin.jpg

How precise do you need the measurement? Just checked my MY21 P450 and it's not a lot far off 90cm.

Thanks for doing that Cluck. Appreciated.

I have limited room between the fixed kerb and the front wall of my home. Also need to leave a 100mm gap in case I accidentally ride up the kerb while reversing. So the more accurate, the better.

I've found the overall length and wheel centers online, but not the rear (or front) overhang.

Cheers

Might not be totally what you're looking for, but I found this tool useful when comparing my old car to the F-Type:

Thanks Rikochet.

Very nice way to compare envelope sizes. But no rear overhang dimension unfortunately.

Welcome to onboard. Hope the wait isn't too long

Wouldn't it be better to source your kerb and then fix it in place once you have the car?
You're looking for the measurement to be accurate, which makes sense to not waste space, but how far forward the kerb needs placing also depends on the profile and height of the kerb. Chances are you'll fit it in the wrong place when real tyre touches real kerb, unless you have a correct sized tyre and wheel to template it alongside a bit of decent measuring.

Is this one of those funny April 1st posts? 😇

I once saw a thread, years ago, asking the individual exhaust pipe offsets, on the old 3-series 🤣🤣

How big will your block of wood be for the tyre?

Thanks cj10jeeper. All valid points and I should probably have been more detailed in my original post.

The kerb is already in place for my Z4 with same size wheels (20 inch). It's butted up against the kerb now and the distance from wheel center line to house is exactly 1200mm. Leaving 100mm gap, as long as the rear overhang is less than 1100mm then I won't need to move it.

Of course I can wait for the car to arrive, but I'm pretty sure I'd rather spend the day driving than moving the kerb :D

Makes more sense now and can see the logic
I had the original Z4 but parked forward to a timber stop on the floor.
Now the F Tyoe lives in 6x6 garage on it’s own, so just use a laser that puts spots on the dash when I reverse in far enough to clear the up and over door.

Edit - Silicone Silver is one of the most amazing colours I’ve seen on a car. Had a factory special Evoque in it and loved the colour. Changes colour based upon light direction, sun, etc…

Hi,
Just measured from centre of 20 inch rear wheel to end of car and it is 915mm.
This is on my 2016 v6s.
Looks like you are safe with the block as it exists.
Cheers.

P.s. lovely colour.

That's great news gf15, and thanks for taking the trouble.

cj10jeeper, I like the idea with the laser. Simple but very effective.

Good to hear a couple of you rate the Silicon Silver. I looked at other options but this one stood out for me. I'll be sure to post a few pics when it's with me in the flesh.

For anyone interested this is what I use (different supplier but same kit)

Fit in the garage ceiling. Park the car exactly where you want and align the 2 lasers to memorable points on the dash, I use corners of the dash speaker mesh.
Drive in slowly and as the pointers reach the spot on the dash you’re within a few mm of target.

What next, a quick sortie over Germanys' dams? ;)

I still use string dangling from the garage ceiling as a stop guide. The lasers look like a good tidy method. :D

It’s a neat and cheap solution. Years of walking into the tennis ball on a string or tripping on stop blocks is now long gone :D
Actually it can guide 2 cars into the garage, if you use one beam for each, so real neat for side by side parking
