Cost of 2nd Service? Is it worth getting a service plan?

You can get a price for servicing if you go onto the Jaguar Website, the price of the service when booked through the portal is often cheaper than the price of the service given by a main dealer, it gives you prices for all the “local” dealers, I was planning on using this method for my first service, I have no idea about service plan costs, my first service is due end of January if you find any information about service plans / costs please share

You can buy/quote a service plan direct from the Jaguar.co.uk website, If you have the registration it will give you a quote straight away.

Some dealers also sell their own service plans in addition to the Jaguar version, but these may tie you to that particular dealer group. The Jaguar version means you can use any dealer.

On the Jaguar website you can also price each individual service at different dealers nearby (look under book a service). Some dealers use the same pricing here as the service plan, others can be more expensive individually via the website than the cost of the service plan. Dealers sometimes charge more when booking direct with them on the phone!

The service plan can be paid monthly and cancelled at any point (subject to the instalments paid covering the services performed at that point in time.

I am waiting for the dealer to get back to me on costs for a service plan before I collect the car next week. It is a June 23 R 75 on 12k miles and have no idea what a 2nd service would cost on this car.

Do the service plans from the dealer differ from those direct from Jaguar?

Here is a Jaguar three year plan for a 24 plate R75 (Just chose a random car from Autotrader) put your reg no into Service plans Jaguar.co.uk and you can view various periods and options for yourself, don’t need to wait for the dealer but you can compare when they return with their costs.

One local dealer is offering a flat £30 a month plan to keep the car serviced according to the Jaguar schedule. I still have a year left on the one I took out after the 2nd service (the pricing on which was comical) so I don't know if they will truly honour that, as the following 3 years contain some hefty service prices.

When I went to book my 2nd year service, Jaguar quoted me an absolutely insane amount for what is an interim service plus brake fluid (even if it doesn't need replacing) and pollen filter. The pollen filter is a 5-minute job and costs tens of pounds. You can add a brake-fluid change to your service schedule for £60 at the time of booking. They wanted £600 over the interim service for this.

EDIT: That image in the post prior to mine looks like they are still taking the proverbial on the 2nd service. The 1st and 3rd are "oil and filter" services and tend to run around £360 here, so if you do that 3 times and add a brake fluid change and the pollen filter, you should be looking at little more than £1200 IMHO.

The standard pricing for services on that car is below. Which makes the service plan look attractive. However both are over priced!

Those service prices have just jumped, I was about to book my 20 plate in with local dealer, it was £806 for the 48 months service, a week ago, it has just jumped to £980, popped into local jag specialist indie dealer, was almost half that price

It's the eye-watering labour rate that makes the difference. And you don't know you're getting the top tech at a dealer ....
