Hi guys would love your thoughts on this, suffered coolant leak , garage removed supercharger , replaced oil cooler gasket and all coolant pipes , replaced water pump removed 7 corroded bolts from engine block and and both cylinder heads then carried out supercharger oil service refitted it engine oil and filter coolant antifreeze service , £2750, Two days later engine misfiring so then took it to a jag specialist , a seized injector due to water / liquid ingress and £2000 bill to get it out , the first garage are saying its complete bad luck and the two things are not connected , your thoughts?

Hello mate,I am no expert but it does seem a very big coincidence to me, can the specialist not give you any information as to the possible cause of the water ingress that's caused the injector to seize, if they can and its something related to the previous work then it gives you some ammunition. Good luck and I hope you get sorted.

thanks for your interest sir , all i could get out of the jag workshop is that seized injectors are a common problem in these cars and ooh isnt it a lovely colour sir, that'll be £2000

It’s a well known problem - if you use the search function you can find out all about it so there’s no need to regurgitate it here 😉
I’ve had failed open injectors, cracked injectors, seized injectors - still got 1 of 5 original so looking forward to seeing what that one does 😂

1 of 5 Lunar? One of those very rare V5 F-Types!

The more I read this Forum and the US Forum, the more determined I become to sell before the warranty runs out!!
Considering how many owners drive their F-Types very low miles and really take special care, these cars seem unreasonably susceptible to all manner of failures not normally experienced with other makes.

That's merely your perception based on a few issues owners have had. The F-Type is my fourth Jag and all so far have proved reliable out of warranty, and apart from routine maintenance (and tyres and fuel!) have rarely needed spares. My 2001 XK8 needed a new coolant eapnsion tank at 60,000 miles, and my 2004 XKR a new oil hose after it burst on the way home - once the pipe was replaced and the oil refilled the engine ran sweetly as ever (my mechanic was very surprised).

I guess it helps to live in Jaguar's home country where independent mechanics don't live in fear of the beasts - they're just "normal" reliable cars, like so many others that don't have a bad rap.
