Considering buying this F Type V6

Dear community,

After years dreaming about it, finally decided to buy an F Type. I am very axed on a V6 coupe, from 2016 onwards.
Have to admit this one just looks perfect to me and wanted to ask for help to find out the VIN, and any advice/insight that you may have especially in regards to this model’s known issues at this mileage (70k)

Thanks a lot in advance.

Welcome! Looks like a nice one in good condition for its mileage. Really nice with the bright headliner. A downside with alcantara is that it wears over time but it looks like it's in good nick on the driver's seat.

The only thing that looks a bit odd spec wise is that it doesn't have a cruise control. It's quite rare to see an F-Type steering wheel with no buttons on the right side.

The rims seem to have some kerb rash and it looks like someone did a dodgy wrap job on the centre console panels. Since it has the standard open chrome pack vents it looks like it originally came with chrome trim which then probably has been wrapped.

Given its age it will have the old style Y pipe, potentially some sticky interior plastics, and given the open vents there's a somewhat increased risk of stuck injectors, if they'd ever need to be replaced.

It's a base spec 340 MY16 hence no cruise control.
6 previous owners.
Only 1 key.
VIN is SAJAC60F0H8K38576
Service history, not a lot recorded.

It's quite well optioned up for a base car so it's just a bit odd that someone left out something as basic as cruise control. Maybe it was only intended as a B road toy.

Good that it got properly serviced last year but the five year gap in the service history and the six previous owners would put me off a bit.

I bought my car (coincidentally a 2016 base 340 with no cruise control) from Century Cars last July and found the purchase experience as good as any I've ever had. Their pre-sale work and car prep is top notch.

They are quite picky about the cars they buy so they must have been happy to take this one in last year. From that service record it looks like they did everything needed to bring it up to scratch and have taken it back 10 months/4k miles later to sell again.

The asking price, reflecting the above average mileage and unrecorded service history makes it great value for money.

You can just get Mo at LR Retrofits to activate the cruise control on a base car - and the dual climate too.

Super interesting and useful feedback everyone thank you so much. Century Cars had good reviews online so glad that someone here confirms it. But yes that’s a huge gap in service history, might try reach out to them on that

That deep blue is beautiful :)

I don't know if it's the picture but it seems there's something odd (old wrap ?) with at the bottom of this panel.

Or alternatively they have this one. £6k more but 2 years younger and 15k miles less. If someone has the service history at hand i would be curious to see!
Thank you again it’s my first post and didn’t expect that much help

Looks like a good and fairly well optioned example. Also looks completely unmolested without any added tints or wrapped parts. An important missing option IMHO is the pano roof which the older one has. The older also has the chrome pedal covers (easy to add) and the optional flat bottomed steering wheel.

Being a facelift car this one has a fair few improvements over the older one... more modern infotainment (for what it's worth - still no CarPlay/AA which you can add with an after market add-on, or have LR Retrofits fit the OEM 10" screen with CarPlay etc), the dual front camera system with more safety assistance features, the lighter/better facelift seats, no risk of sticky interior plastics, frameless rear view mirror, nicer feeling paddles, factory tinted tail lights, new front etc. This one also has a better specced exterior with the optional front splitter + side sills + rear diffuser. The only down side tech wise is that it has the facelift LED lights which arguably are better than the old xenons but where the passenger side light will have the infamous issues with the DRL, unless it already has the problem and you can get the dealer to replace the light.

That one has 2 previous owners. Plus the current one so you would be the 4th.

Long history of MOT low tyres and brakes.

It has been on sale since 4th September 2024. Is a 340 and an MY18 so would of been manufactured around May 2017 but unsold and placed into storage for a year. Do check the passenger side headlight to make sure the DRL is the same brightness as the offside.

Possibly started life as a demonstrator. Missing service during COVID. Currently 164 days overdue service.

Alright, again thank you for the replies on the other car. All considered, I don’t think I want to buy outside of Jag main dealer network, as I really want the Jag extended warranty for piece of mind.
Another change of mind (as a consequence of the above and my budget) is that a P300 could be a decent intro to F Type, before potentially buying a V6 later. My current car is a Cooper S from 2018 fyi.
Anyway, i am in touch with Jaguar Nottingham for this car (see link below - plate is HJ68 YRY). I think it’s supeb in the racing green and it looks very clean. At 25k i am tempted. Only thing is the servuce history they provided is very sporadic IMO for an apprved used so have asked for more details:
1.12.2009 11095 miles JLR Dealer
12.7.2022 18677 miles Local Garage -They have used genuine parts to be able to upload the history.
12.11.2024 46348 miles JLR Nottingham

So wanted to ask once again… any advice/insight and if possible to retrieve the actual service history before I pester them again?

Many thanks all!

Fully recommend you test drive as many different models and engines as possible.

If you go onto this website and key in the VIN you can see the service schedule. If you time to read through each due service you can see what's was due on each service completed and those not listed, or otherwise done.
