Can't keyless lock from drivers door

Okay so I touched on this in another thread but didn't want to completely hijack it...

After doing a bit more investigating I've drilled down to the following.

All windows, doors, boot and bonnet are firmly shut.
When I unlock the car by pushing the button on the key, all handles pop out and all doors open.
When I unlock the car by pushing the button on both drivers and passenger side, the handle pops out and door unlocks.
When I lock the car with the key, all handles go back in.
When I lock the car by pushing the handle in on the passenger side, both handles go in, car locks.

When I lock the car by pushing the handle on the drivers side, I get two beeps as if something isn't locked, and the handle doesn't go in.
This is the same with both keys so it isn't related to the battery in the fob.

Anyone seen this before or have any idea what could be the cause? Seems really weird as the handle mechanism works... just not if I push it by hand.

Is that the only time you're getting two audible beeps (error tone)? I take it that you're not getting them when you unlock the car?

Correct. Only time I'm hearing it.

Reason I asked is because if you were hearing the 2 audible beeps (error tone) when unlocking the car I may have been able to help.

Hopefully you’ll get the issue sorted (perhaps under warranty).

Bump... anyone else had this problem?

It's with Jaguar now and they replaced the door handle which didn't solve the issue (surprise surprise). It seemed pretty obvious to me that is wasn't the handle as the door unlocks fine with keyless entry, and locks fine by pressing the key fob. They obviously weren't as sure so have wasted their time and money on a new door handle that required painting as well. I shudder to think what the cost would of been if it was out of warranty.

First, probably stupid, question - the spare key is outside the car, right? If it is left inside, the car won't let you lock it with the handle. If using the key fob the car knows you have a key in your hand and allows it to lock with the other key still inside.

Secondly, it might be worth checking the alarm battery backup sounder. I was getting two beeps on locking my car with the key fob and replacing the BBUS solved the problem. I know this isn't the exact same problem as yours, but it does sound similar.

Hopefully it’s not the BBU, but if so I have a brand new one available cheaply to forum members…

I can confirm the second key is nowhere near the car.

I don't think it'll be the same issue as what you had as it doesn't happen when I lock with the fob, or if I lock from the passenger side. It's only when trying to keyless lock the drivers side.

Appreciate the offer. I could be wrong but I doubt it's that. Plus it's being investigated/fixed under warranty so out of my hands where any spares come from.

Hello guys, I am a new owner of an F-type V6S and I have been experiencing the exact same issue. Did you find a solution for this??
