Boot lid

Anyone have any idea what this shadowing is on my boot lid, only see it in certain ligh conditions, it's perfectly symmetrical. At first I thought is was a shadow cast from the windscreen, rear window etc but it's not. It's not my paintwork as the car is only 2 months old from new, anybody else seen anything like this? There maybe a daft answer that'll make me look stupid but it's baffling me, thanks all<br /><br /><img src="http://i1086.photobucket.com/albums/j457/wanner69/20161228_175247_zpspxa7slik.jpg" border="0" /><br /><br /><img src="http://i1086.photobucket.com/albums/j457/wanner69/20161228_175300_zpsqqbn8hre.jpg" border="0" />

Mine looks like that with condensation on it, some bits underneath different materials = different temperatures.

<div> </div><div>Just pop the lid and look underneath where you will see the reinforcing structure running underneath, very close to the outer skin.</div>

Yes I undestand that but surely that's not acceptable is it when you see a shadow outline on your paint surface. I'm into car detailing and it annoys the hell out of me. It's even embarrassing when my work colleagues admire my car then say what's that on your boot lid.

<blockquote>Yes possibly, I'll remove the boot liner and take a look</blockquote>
<div> </div><div>Good idea...use some Dynamat, however I don't think there is any gap between the internal diagonal bracing and he outer skin looking at the drawings.</div><div> </div><div>Alternatively, throw a cover over the bootlid if it bothers you that much.</div>

Not checked it yet but it does bother me seeing that on my car, surely a design fault then if the frame underneath shows up on the paint surface. Wouldn't expect that on a £10k car let along my £70k+ car.

It's not unusual to see this in certain weather. More obvious on cars with flat panels on the boot/bonnet I think. I'm trying to remember which car I had, that showed a similar thing (but I think it was even more obvious) particularly in cold dewy conditions. Probably a result of the reinforced areas taking longer to warm up than the areas of plain metal. Worse when it's got a good coatiing of wax or sealant on it from what I can remember. <br>

As many of you that know me (on the forum at least!), our F is completely custom wrapped in xPel Ultimate. <div>If I start the car in the garage, the condensation from the exhausts is enough to produce the patterns that wanner69 mentions even with the extra layer of PPF as insulation.</div><div> </div><div>It doesn't bother me in the slightest, as once I'm out in the open it disappears pretty instantly.</div><div> </div><div>@Wanner69, I would suggest that you drop Jaguar CRC a line and explain to them your concern and see what their input would be. They can be pretty useful if you catch the right person at the right time.</div><div> </div><div>Don't take comments too seriously, some people (including myself) defend our car/brand vehemently<strong><font color="#6a6a6a"> </font></strong>and criticisms that may appear daft to us obviously are serious to others.</div>

Just had a look; don't have it - not fussed by it either. My 997 used to do this on the bonnet on a warming day - when the ambient temperature became reasonable it disappeared.

I really have better things to worry about. It happens on most cars and is a materials thing. The boot lid is made of composite i think as the GPS antenna and a few other things in it.<div><br></div><div>Most bonnets do it in the right weather conditions too.</div>

Thanks very much for taking the time out to reply guys, really appreciate it. This is my first jaguar car in 30 years of driving and i really do love this car. I know the few issues I have are just more frustrating than anything else and will hopefully be sorted soon. <br />@Tel, thanks for your input. <br />Now I'm off to clean her and drive it. <br />Happy new year all.
