Blind spot - coupe nearside

Seeing Top Gear last night reminded me of the blind spot and to see if I could find again the article I thought I read on a variant of the nearside mirror that allowed you to view the blind spot. Then again, I could have been dreaming - is there such a thing?

If you can see the flanks of the car in your side mirrors they are set too far in. They should be set well out. To test for proper setting let someone overtake you, left and right: they should start to appear in the side mirror as they disappear from the rear-view, and you should start to see them with your peripheral vision beside you as they disappear from the side mirrors.
I have blind spot monitoring but I trust my mirrors.
I did add a warning label on the drivers side to complement "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear."
Drivers side now says "Objects in mirror recede quickly under acceleration".
