Battery Issues

Over the past few weeks, I have been receiving battery low keep engine running messages when stopping the car. I have also noticed the stop/start function doesn't always kick in. Over the past 10 days I have added about 500 miles on long journeys but still getting battery low messages and no stop/start function.

This leads me to conclude that I may need a new battery but as the stop/start system was previously replaced under warranty which has been extended, am I best to live with this until the next annual service in July or should I source a new battery and if so, where is the best place, Jag or kwik fit etc?

First thing I'd be doing is looking at the voltage when the car is being charged by the engine running and then after a few hours of resting.
I'd be looking for 14v+ when charging and 12.6v when rested. From there it is straightforward to decide if you need a new battery or have charging side issues.
Latter looks to be the 1st port of call and would confirm your diagnosis and former less likely given you have been able to drive 500 miles and start the car several times.

I've found Halfords of all places to be very competitive on pricing and have 5 years guarantees, free delivery
Tanya do good pricing too.

I'd highly recommend Tayna for batteries both their prices and delivery. I've ordered late in the afternoon and the batteries have arrived next day before noon o'clock so you can't really fault that

Varta batteries are very good and tend to be a bit more keenly priced than the Bosch equivalent, and have the same guarantee

…also recommended, but it’s Tayna, not Tanya.

When I bought mine from them I went for Varta as they are one of the few actual battery manufacturers and, according to the research I’d done, make the batteries for Bosch amongst others.

Tayna, actually ;)
If you follow number 27's Youtube channel you can use his discount code, too!

Fair point. I could just claim spellcheck, but actually recovering from rather nasty detached retina surgery.

Ouch! Even number 27 sometimes calls it Tanya. Hope your recovery goes well!

I bought Varta from Tayna just last week. I changed it myself it's a bit fiddly but not too bad.
I did not have any problem but the battery was nearly 8 years old, peace of mind thats all

I bet it's a lot easier than in the my previous XKR - that battery was located just behind the rear seats so required a long stretch across the boot, and those batteries are heavy!

From what you say I'll have that pleasure to come in a year.
