Approved used tyres

I have just hit a stone and blown out a rear tyre half way across Exmoor. We have had the car for 2 weeks and its an approved used car.
There are no tyres available locally at Kwikfit etc, so we are being taken to a Jaguar dealer.
I've just noticed the tyres are Michelin super sports, not the Jaguar approved P-zero. Do you think I can try to get all 4 changed as the car was sold with unapproved tyres. I accept I have to pay for the one I trashed, but surely an approved used car should come with manufacturer approved tyres?

personally I think the michelins are a far superior tyre so I would not be pushing to replace with 3 inferior ones
I would be pushing for them to match on the rear axle though so if a Michelin is already fitted, they should fit another one
bad luck on the blow out, hope it gets sorted asap

It's a myth that you can only fit tyres with the "J" approval mark.
It only means that Jaguar have tested that tyre and recommend it.
In the manual it clearly states that replacement tyres have to be the same size, speed and load rating as the tyre being replaced on the car and that's all.
Legally that is the case as well although it's not good practice to have different makes (read tread patterns) on the same axle.

I am a long way from home and need to be back tonight. I'll see if they will fit 1 P-zero just to get me home.......if not then I guess it will have to be the pair.
On a positive note.....Nice place to wait for a tow truck.

Why not get a matching Michelin fitted? Then you're sorted until the rest need replacing ... :?

That would be my preferred option. But there are non available for fitting today. I've checked all the local suppliers and they only have P-Zero.
Its my moms 70th birthday tomorrow and I'm hosting a BBQ party and a surprise day out......so I have to get this sorted and be home.
