Adjust the bonnet

Hello dear community,

I need your help adjusting the hood.

I've already turned the six buffers, but the hood is a good 4mm above the bumper so that the wind can really blow down there and from 180km/h it really flutters that you get scared.
Can you also adjust something on the hinge?

Seems to be a very common issue with F-Types but I guess it's mainly us who drive them at proper speeds who actually notice it. When my car was delivered the bonnet was also slightly misaligned in that spot but not so bad that it fluttered. My sales guy at the dealer in Trier said it was quite a job to get it right and they had some guy who was a specialist in this who aligned it for me while the car was in for some other minor warranty niggles.

I remember having seen at least two youtube vids on this topic and suggest that you check these two out:

Hello Frank,
You may find that lifting the bumper an alternative to dropping the bonnet.
If the panel gaps are good elsewhere around the bonnet .
The leading edge of my bumper, where it meets the bonnet is raised with the aid of 2 stainless steel washers. Fitted between the metal frame and plastic under each of the bolts.
This would be easy to do as the bolts are accessible with the bonnet open.
The bumper is very flexible and with caution can be manipulated easily.

Hmm, that's interesting. I use my washer jets so rarely that it doesn't matter but I've noticed that one of the headlamp washers doesn't retract fully because its cover gets stuck and doesn't manage to pop entirely back into the hole. Seems like it's just slightly misaligned and it just takes a light prod for it to pop back into its hole in the bumper. It's on the side where the bonnet needed a little alignment so maybe there's been some bumper fettling involved as well.

See the center of this picture with hose attached, angled downwards, it sits in a large gap under the light.




Not sure the amount of adjustment we are talking about will cause any issues.
Obviously easy to reverse the bumper movement if I'm wrong. Try and see.

My left side jet was like that but it was eventually fixed under warranty. So many things to align to achieve perfection!

Short feedback,

Today I put 2 washers under each screw.

The gap to the hood is still a good 7mm, but I now have a clean transition from the bumper to the hood.

I also turned the stop rubbers, but somehow not much changes in the front area.
