</div><div>Well its been at least 4 weeks since I posted an issue with the F-Type.. so I guess I was due another issue..</div><div><br></div><div>The rear end of my exhaust system was exchanged under warranty a few weeks back due to some grating noise... now I have an issue where the active exhausts on an intermittent basis seem to be stuck fully on...</div><div><br></div><div>Don't get me wrong , we all love the noise of the exhaust system ,but being a civilized member of the public their are times where I need to drive around with them turned off.</div><div><br></div><div>No matter what mode I'm in, non dynamic , even snow mode ... the exhausts are fully open regardless of the exhaust button being pressed / de-pressed. Then 2 days later the problem just goes away. </div><div><br></div><div>Any ideas . Have already emailed the dealer but always nice to have a bit of an insight to see if other members have had problems ?</div><div><br></div><div>Steve</div><div><br></div>

no, i've read it twice now, I still can't see that this is a bad thing <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley17.gif" border="0" alt="Tongue" title="Tongue" /><div>do you know if you've had the vacuum pump bypass? the early ones had a little annoying buzz just behind the rear seats where the pump was located for the exhaust butterfly. mine was really noisy and they actually deleted the pump and now it works off the engine vacuum, maybe your pump has gone if you still have one? </div>

<div>I'm not sure , its due in with the dealer again tomorrow for other ongoing problems , It was fine until they replaced the back end of the exhaust system with a new one... just seems odd how one day the exhaust is stuck fully open , and other days its fine.</div><div><br></div><div><br></div>

Steve. <br /><br />I think you know I've had exhaust sound problems. Mine used to change after about an hour of driving and went from the lovely sounding snarl to a booming roar. <br /><br />I'm still not convinced it is ok despite two new rear ends to the exhaust. I don't get the snarl or the popping sounds everyone likes. <br />Was going to mention it when it next ent in for a service but as that is about 7 months away, I might do it sooner rather than later as j have a couple of small items to get fixed. <br />Also, my records have been taken over by a full Jaguar dealership do might see if they can do better than the approved services that looked after it since new.

Yep, mine was stuck open when we first picked it up. I actually have no idea what they did but was fixed on first attempt and no problems since. There was some muttering about baffle actuator I think, but couldn't vouch for it. Jess

Also Gav if you want to meet up and compare and contrast btw let me know - we are often out your way :)<edited><editID>ajbh</editID><editDate>2016-03-29 23:03:59</editDate></edited>

Gav , I take it they havnt done any update to the engine management , I know people that are complaining of a much quieter F-Type since the engine management was updated.. The 2015 Ftype I had on loan was way less noisy than my original 2013 plate ,like you said , all the snarls and pops had gone</div><div><br></div><div><br></div>

Hi<div><br></div><div>I am glad you mentioned this I bought an R in January 2015 ( new ), without going into too much detail I had this car replaced by Jaguar due to problems in July 2015 with the new 2016 R . My first impression was exactly that it was quieter somehow. I asked the dealers if they knew of any changes that may have taken place to support and they said no!!</div><div><br></div><div>I assumed that it was just me!!</div>

Owners on the Ftpye Facebook page had posted just last week " I'm sure they wont mind me cutting and pasting...<p>"Has anyone else found the following a routine service it seems like the active exhaust has had the volume turned down? I had my v6s coupe in for its first service last week, now the exhaust seems like it's at half volume" <br><br>Apparently... looking at the comments , its something to do with the oxygen sensors ..</p><p><br>"<span -ft='"tn":"K"'><span ="UFIComment"><span>Update k309 changes ecm mapping related to oxygen sensors"<br><br>Another comment<br>"</span>I've been battling with JLR now for 9 months they have just 2weeks ago put the original Software back in and now tell me if I want it as is (old factory software) they won't cover the oxygen sensors on warranty.<span>Mine on the up</span><span><span><span>dated software had gone completely quiet on overrun and had lost a lot of power."<br><br>So...yeah , I don't think its just you... something has deffo been done to turn the noise down... I took my next door neighbor out in the 2015 plate Ftype I had on loan last year and the 1st thing he said was "yeah its nice , but whats happened to the noise as that was the best bit"...</span></span></span></span></span></p>

Yes I agree, I recall before my first car all of the test drives that I had I used to remark as to how can this car be legal by the noise that it used to make, do not get me wrong it is still loud but off the throttle it certainly does not spit and burble quite the same!!

Just been to dealer had a rather loud rattling noise from rear box bin told new back box needed ' the active control valve is loose and cannot be repaired , car has only done nine odd thousand miles 2014 coupe sixth time car has been back for faults two handles replaced speaker issues rattling trim problems now this have had 8 jags since 1994 and this f type and 2010xj have had more problems than all the others put together wish I kept my xkr not one problem in 4 yrs of ownership, come on jaguar get your act together cos what sort of repair bills are we going to face when our warranties run out , breaks my heart to rant like this about jags but these are silly problems that should not be happening

I feel for you Sixk8 and for the others having annoying issues and having to go back forth to the dealer to sort them out. I don't understand why all this is happening specially with the newer models. I bought my 2013 V6S with 1500 on the clock and Ive had it for a year and a half and Ive done about 8000 miles, touch wood not one issue. Not sure if Im one of the lucky few or something will happen sooner than later...hope not as its my first Jag and sports car and Im loving it.<div>I hope you get your last and final issue sorted out Sixk8.</div>

Cheers Joe just so frustrating such a great car in both looks a drive ,let down by lack of testing on it parts or the design of its parts and its not as if there are a lot of f types built 3-4 thousand a year so seems to be a high failure rate to me anyway , have to say dealership really good Marshall in peterborough very apologetic for the problems I've had , hey ho summer just around the corner so hopefully warm days to have some good days driving and put smile back on my face

Hi Sammy I'll let you all no if new box sounds different I have a v6s like yourself ,better not be quieter else jaguar will get a verball rocket from me , hell that's half of the appeal of the f type ,to me anyway<edited><editID>sixk8</editID><editDate>2016-04-13 23:21:32</editDate></edited>

Totally agree with you Sixk8, half the joy with this car is the acoustics, mine is so brutally loud its outrageous, just love it! I bet the noise abatement society in the UK are up in arms with the F-Type<img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley36.gif" border="0" alt="LOL" title="LOL" />

<div>
My car has definitely less pops and bangs since the exhaust pump bypass has been done.. Agree with SixK8... this is my 8th jag... and will be my last... and my ftype is the most expensive and newest jag I have purchased.. normally I'm buying 3-4 years old with 30-40k on the clock... didn't expect this much hassle when I bought with 5k on the clock nearly new,</div><div><br></div><div>Jaguar HQ keep telling me "their is very little problems with the FType"... they clearly don't read the same forums I do</div><div><br></div>
