About to Order

Hi, Had a test drive in a convertible last week, we both loved it. The sound on the up shift made us both giggle like kids.

Plan to order in next couple of weeks hopefully for delivery in April (too much salt on roads in winter here in Scotland). Still trying to decide if we can manage with limited luggage space of the convertible or if it will have to be the coupe.

Steve
I have the convertible. I think the coupe looks nicer, but I wouldn't choose one over the soft top because of that open top driving enjoyment aspect. Putting the windows down on a nice day is no substitute
I also thought about the carrying capacity, but really when you compare between the two, the coupe ain't no station wagon, if you get my meaning.
I'm planning to get a boot rack for mine and fit it when I need it.
In addition to that...my motto is pack light, shower regularly .
That's my ten penneth on the subject.
Convertible all the way for me too - the luggage space is workable for anything up to a long weekend for 2 just needs soft bags. We get a surprising amount in it - full trolley tesco shop, centerparcs trip including food and roller blades! Jess

Many thanks for your replies.
We do some European trips and need the luggage space. Not sure about the boot rack, worried about scratching the paint but we would enjoy the roof down motoring. Ironically we do have a convertible which has plenty of luggage space and we plan to keep it, but we don't often take the roof off as it takes such a long time to get it back on!
Regards,
Steve.
If you don't go for the convertible I would highly recommend the pan roof on the coupe it's lovely - we too have a small convertible but even when the sun comes out we still opt for the coupe at the mo.... New toy syndrome not wearing out any time soon.

PS. When we couldn't decide which model to get my other half pointed out the different roof line between the two - it was then I realised how stunning the coupe roof line looked.<edited><editID>BirdingGal</editID><editDate>2015-08-28 23:16:42</editDate></edited>

We will probably go for the coupe for the luggage space, if so definitely the pan roof. Trying to decide if it is worth getting the AWD

Steve.
The f convertible roof is super fast, one of my favourite features :) I can't imagine going back to solid roof now (our other car is a coupe, poor thing has barely moved since we got the f) but I do suggest taking some nice long test drives, we did the coupe (v8 awd) and convertible(v6s) for an hour each back to back and really helped confirm our choice.

Welcome to the F-Type Owners Club Steve!

If it's any consolation, we managed a 4 day trip down to France (me and the other half...and she packs about 120 pr of shoes! and 50 dresses and enough 'products' to sink a battle ship!) without any problem in our vert!

The Jag luggage set was a great buy off of eBay...with normal 'harder' luggage it wouldn't work, but the soft malleable Jaguar set was the way forward.

This time next year, hoping to do an Italian Tour with the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club...`France, Belguim, Switzerland etc...should be a test!

P.S Darling, if you're reading this, I didn't mean it about your luggage ...I'll get a tow bar fitted!

We went v6s convertible - the v8 just seemed a bit much, and a bit heavy for a daily driver and I found the coupe oddly cramped feeling for us it was no contest. I pack light and for everything else well theres MasterCard ;)
I share exactly the same view as Jess...Same logic and same kind of enjoyment from the car.

It's different strokes for different folks and in the end it all depends on what you want the car for, most of the time. Geography/predominant weather conditions and where you keep it every night will, i'm sure also play a big part.
If you're going for out and out performance and handling then the coupe will flatter the most.

Enjoy the new car!

Well, we have placed our order.

V6S AWD coupe, was very tempted to a convertible but we really need the luggage space.

Italian Racing Red, performance seats in premium ivory leather and interior in ivory and jet. Pan roof, powered tailgate, design pack and a few other bits and pieces. For delivery in mid April when hopefully all or most of the salt will be gone.

The dealer said the orders are taking about five months so we should be OK for the time we want it. Will be a long seven months!

Steve.

Congratulations - We have a couple of friends that we met at the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club at Chichester and again at Brooklands that have the V6S IRR with Ivory. Nice combination.

In contrast, we had a V6S Coupé for a while. Nice car, but felt that we could have been in any other sports coupé, and decided it had to be convertible...sod the luggage space

We are off on a tour round Europe next year with a group of Jaguars, just have to be sensible packing.

That said, the Coupé is the sweeter looking car...

Congrats!

Collecting mine on Monday, which will have been 3 months. Seems odd it's now up to 5 months, but I guess they could have sold a load recently. Still rarely see any near me though!

Condolences, I waited 5 months for my V6S AWD in BRG and somehow I fell into a time warp! Made 2000 miles in 3weeks....

Thanks all,

We have done a couple of European trips which have included a track day so we need to take helmets. Don't think I will be taking the Jag on track though!

Bet you are looking forward to Monday Captainham, hope all goes well for you.

Steve.

Don't forget to post up some photos.

Re: The increased waiting time...I wonder if there have been production delays due to the recent accident on the production line.
