About to embark on my F Type journey

I'm US based and ready to buy a pre owned F Type. I have a budget of around $35k which limits me to the earlier models and/or examples with higher mileage. Some questions I have:

1) Are there certain years that I should prefer over others?
2) Is there a sweet spot with the different engine offerings?
3) Any other gotchas I should be aware of as I look for my specific car?
4) This car will be my daily driver on a 30 mile round-trip commute that includes freeway as well as stop and go traffic. Is the V8 going to be annoying in this scenario? I also have a mild concern that I might piss off the neighbors when I leave for work every morning at 7:30 a.m, not sure if the V8 can be started quietly and babied out of the driveway? 🤣

I'll be coming to the F Type from a 2002 Porsche Boxster that I'm giving up on after 137k miles. Looking for something a bit more "refined", modern, and hopefully a little more reliable.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

The V8 is a pussy cat in stop and go traffic, and the F-Type cabin is a lovely place to sit while those around you fume! You can "tame" the V8 startup roar by selecting D immediately after starting, though you can't stop the initial roar when the big cat awakes.

Regarding engine choice, the V6 and V8 have different personalities so I'd recommend driving as many as you can before you decide. And enjoy those drives!

And don't believe the naysayers claiming Jaguars aren't reliable - that may have been the case back in the bad old days of British Leyland, but things have changed a lot in the past decades!

Don’t forget the “Jaggg effect”. Start a noisy BMW M4, Muscle car or 911 and the neighbours will frown.

Start a noisy Jaggg and everyone will love it.

Good sentiment, but it's "Jaaaag". :D
