2014 f type exhaust

Good afternoon
I’m new to the form and have introduced myself on the introductions forum and my name is steve. I have bought a 2014 f type which I absolutely love but I keep reading about the active exhaust system. Mine does not have a button to switch or valves on the exhaust pipes so my question is……is the exhaust still an active exhaust and if so, how does it work. Also can the exhaust be modified with this system.
Thankyou
Steve

Hi Steve & welcome to the forum.

I understood all the V6 F-Types had an active exhaust, whether or not the switch was fitted, but apparently not, see https://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=5259

I'm afraid I don't know whether the system can be retrofitted, perhaps someone more knowledgeable than me can help.

On the V6 the valves are behind the back box so not easy to see! The V8 has the valves in front so they're obvious. The lack of a switch isn't, IMO, a great hardship - you can make it loud from tickover (subject to software levels) by selecting dynamic mode, so the switch doesn't really add much value for me.

Hi Steve,

Probably worth getting in touch with LR Retrofits or LR Chip. On their website(s), it looks like they offer a retrofit for the active exhaust switch.

LR Retrofits - https://lr-retrofits.co.uk/x152-f-type

LR Chip - https://www.lr-chip.co.uk/car/f-type-2014/#retrofits

I haven't used them so can't personally vouch but I'm sure there are forum users here that have used their services.

I have seen back boxes without the valves, so best to check yours has them before adding the switch.

For my car the Dynamic mode also opens the valves, so on a motorway I use the switch to close them as I prefer the closed exhaust at higher speeds, but open on A and B roads.

Thankyou for all the help and advice. So .. my f type does not have an active exhaust so the exhaust is just standard. I got in touch with 'Mod-Stock' who are based in Epsom and they do a modification which I drove 4hrs to London to have done... and boy.. was it worth it... my exhaust sounds incredible and turns heads everywhere....
thanks
Steve
